Blur or pixelate part of an image
Drag across the parts of the photo you want to hide and they are pixelated or blurred straight away. Faces, licence plates, names and addresses on a document, strangers in the background — clear them all before you post. Add as many areas as you need and undo any step.
How to use it
Choose an image or drop it onto the dashed area. When the preview appears, drag a rectangle over anything you want to hide — with a mouse, or with your finger on a phone. The effect is applied the moment you release. A larger block size hides more; undo takes back the last area.
Pixelate or blur?
Pixelation is the safer choice when the point is to make something unreadable; blur looks more natural but a weak blur can sometimes be partially reversed by image processing. For personal data and documents, use a large mosaic block size.
Does it degrade the image?
Not a single pixel outside your selection is touched, and the file is written back in its original format. JPEG is always re-compressed when it is saved, so export as PNG if you need to avoid any generational loss.
Frequently asked questions
Can a pixelated area be recovered?
Not from the exported file. Pixelation replaces the pixels in the area with their average colour, so the original detail is gone. While you are still working in the browser, the undo button reverses the last step.
How many areas can I cover?
As many as you want. Each drag adds another area, so you can hide every face in a group photo in one pass.
Can I blur a video?
This tool handles still images only. A single frame exported from a video works fine.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It runs in mobile browsers on iOS and Android: pick a photo from your camera roll, edit it and save the result straight back to your device. iPhone HEIC files are read directly.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything the page needs is loaded when you open it, and your photo is processed entirely on your own device. The image never crosses the network, so there is nothing to intercept and nothing stored on a server.
